ReStory Story Not Progressing

ReStory story not progressing? Check unfinished repairs, Inbox messages, licenses and the 1.0.015 guitar fix before restoring a save or starting over.

For ReStory story not progressing, first check unfinished customer devices, the Inbox and your current objective. A quiet shop can mean an outstanding task, while a specific block after the rock musician's guitar was addressed by hotfix 1.0.015. Preserve your save before trying a rollback or starting over.

Start with the task you can actually see

Write down the last story customer, device and conversation you completed. Check the workbench, shelves, stored boxes and loose devices for an accepted customer repair. Online orders and walk-in story jobs are not interchangeable: finishing email work does not complete a device left on a shelf.

Open the job's full checklist. A cleaned and reassembled device may still need firmware, painting or a requested delivery. Finish the visible requirements and return the item before assuming a timer is broken. The walkthrough covers the wider repair and story roadmap.

Check Inbox, licenses and required tools

Read the Inbox as well as the Orders view on the shop computer, including unread messages connected to the last customer. Check whether the active task names a license, missing part, tool or installation. Follow that requirement instead of buying unrelated upgrades to force a new event.

The 1.0.013r notes list fixes for blockers involving purchased licenses and main-quest orders. Advice that buying a license early always ruins the story should not be treated as a current rule.

Stuck after repairing the rock musician's guitar

In an August 22 developer reply, Eugene Kisterev confirms hotfix 1.0.015 for a common failure to advance after the rock musician's guitar. A three-star rating at that point can be another sign of that particular issue. Update through Steam and check the installed version before following launch-week workarounds.

The same reply warns that an affected save begun before 1.0.013 might remain blocked. The hotfix is evidence for this specific case, not a promise that it repairs every quiet shop or every old save. Preserve a copy even if ordinary email orders still work.

Missing customers after an invitation or watch repair

Finish the invited character's open repairs and conversations. A character-route ending and the final Hashimoto choice are separate events. Not receiving another character's invitation may be a branch consequence rather than a general progression bug.

Compare the choices guide with the character you hosted. Returning to a late save will not necessarily undo an earlier invitation. Use your pre-choice copy when comparing branches; do not overwrite your current run just to test an unverified answer.

What the patches actually fixed

  • 1.0.010r: the official notes list missing-screw blockers, Robby wiring and saving problems.
  • 1.0.013r: the notes list license/main-order blockers and add five save slots.
  • 1.0.015: the developer reply identifies the guitar-story case and the limitation for some older saves.

A similar symptom in a later build can have a different cause. These notes do not establish a universal wait of three, five or ten days, nor a requirement to buy every license.

If the queue is still empty

  1. Close the game and back up the Restory folder.
  2. Record the build, platform, save's original version and last completed story job.
  3. Capture the objective, Inbox, outstanding devices and any unusual rating.
  4. Report the case through Steam's technical forum or the official Discord, retaining the affected save for support.

Provide a save through the support channel the developer requests rather than deleting it. Starting a fresh run is a large step and is not this checklist's default answer.

Is the game over, or is new content still pending?

After a main ending, repeatable workshop work can continue. The free update announced on October 27, 2026 added Fuzzby and the PlayMachine Controller. The same post says a story-progression fix for some players is on the beta_version branch: back up saves, switch that branch on in Steam's beta tab, report problems in the technical discussions, and return to the default branch once the fix has applied. Players who are not stuck are told not to install it. The post's Windows backup path is %UserProfile%\AppData\LocalLow\Mandragora\ and the Mac path is ~/Library/Application Support/Mandragora/Restory/. One sentence in that backup step is cut off in the news feed, so this page does not invent the missing words.

FAQ

What should I check before calling the story stuck?

Check unfinished customer devices, the Inbox, and the current objective. A cleaned device can still need firmware, paint, or delivery.

What fixed the guitar story block?

Hotfix 1.0.015 targets a common stop after the rock musician's guitar. A save started before 1.0.013 can remain blocked. Update and keep a backup.

Where is the October story-progression fix?

The October 27, 2026 notes put that fix on the beta_version branch for affected players. Back up the Mandragora save folder, opt in, and return to the default branch after the fix. Players who are not stuck do not need the branch.
